| Laura Voutilainen was born on May 17th, 1975
in Jyvaskyla, Finland. Despite of her young age, Laura has already become a
well-established artist and musician. At the age of five, Laura was accepted to the music
kindergarten. The following year she began to study a solo instrument - the violoncello.
Her first band Kevytlinja came along at the age of fifteen.  Laura's
first major public appearance took place in 1993 after the single release "Muuttanut
oot maailmain" (You changed my world). This was shortly followed by a breakthrough
hit "Kerran" (Once), which also started the true success story of Laura
Voutilainen. The first album was released in 1994 and has thus far sold over 120 000 pcs.
The second album "Kaksi karttaa" (Two maps) came out in August 1996. The sales
of this latter album surpassed gold-disc limit only three days after its publication and
reached double platinum within the same year. The two first albums brought Laura a great
success! She has received two respected music industry awards thus far. The famous Emma
Awards were received in 1994 and 1996.
The first concert tour materialized in September 1996.
Laura and her band toured in 19 cities in Finland. All the concerts were sold out!
"Hei me tanssitaan" -summertour 1997 (Hey, we dance) was one of the most
successful stage-events during that year. In addition, she has also conquered various
kinds of happenings such as those of music theatre performances by Uusi Iloinen Teatteri
(New Happy Theatre).
Laura's first Christmas album "Lumikuningatar"
(Snow Queen) was released in 1997 and was followed by an extensive concert tour. In
addition to this Laura had a special Christmas Show of her own, which took place on the
cruises of the Finnish-Swedish ferries. However, this is not all! In 1997 Laura also gave
her voice to a famous Walt Disney cartoon figure Meg who appeared in the Hercules cartoon
movie. Finally, she appeared in a world show called "What a feeling", which took
place in London and Helsinki.
The fourth album called "Etelan yossa" (In the
southern night) was released in 1998. Like all of her previous albums this also reached
and easily exceeded the gold-disc sales. In the fall of 1999 Laura expanded her areas of
expertise once more. This time she partly co-produced a TV-show of her own called
"Laura Wou!!". This TV-show was again followed by a special tour in eight cities
of Finland. If you think, there is not much more for a young artist to achieve, think
again! In summer 2000 Laura performed at the Pori Jazz -festival. During the same year she
had her most successful tour ever. "Ilta Lauran kanssa" -tour (Evening with
Laura) took place in 15 various cities of Finland.
Year 2001 was special for Laura. Laura devoted the
beginning of the year to her family and her two children. The beginning of the year was a
period of renewal for her. The outcome of this short sabbathical resulted to new strong
repertoire. Image-wise this change meant new, younger style and expansion to the fields of
pure pop-music. Her first single "Neonvalot" (Neonlights) became a popular
summerhit and the second single "En mielestain sua saa" (I can't get you out of
my mind) stayed on pop playlist-charts for weeks. New album "Puolet sun
auringosta" was released on October 2001.
Year 2002 has started out positively for Laura! Radio
stations all over the country play her new album frequently. Furthermore on January 26th
she was chosen to represent Finland in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest to be held in
Tallinn at the end of May. Her song is entitled "Addicted to you". The song is
composed by Maki Kolehmainen and the lyrics are written by Janina Frostell in co-operation
with Tracy Lipp. The song is arranged by Mika Mettala. The song was a clear favourite of
both regional juries and televoters. |

мультфильма Геркулес студии Уолта Диснея и
выступила в мировом шоу "Какое чувство" в
Лондоне и Хельсинки. - Четвертый альбом "Южной
ночью" вышел в 1998 году. Как и все ее предыдущие
альбомы, он с легкостью превысил марку
золотого. Осенью 1999-го Лаура была сопродюсером
собственного шоу "Вау, Лаура!". За этим шоу
опять последовал тур по 8 городам Финляндии. Если
вы думаете, что это не много для такой молодой
артистки,- подумайте еще раз! Летом 2000 года Лаура
выступила на фестивале Пори Джаз. В том же году
она совершила свое самое успешное турне-
"Вечер с Лаурой" по 15 городам Финляндии.
- 2001 год стал для Лауры особенным.
Она посвятила начало года своей семье и двум
детям. За этим периодом отдыха последовало
коренное обновление ее музыкальной программы. Ее
первый сингл "Неоновый свет" стал
популярным летом, а второй "Я не могу забыть
тебя" держался наверху чартов в течение
нескольких недель. Ее новый альбом вышел в
октябре 2001 года.
- 2002 год также начался для Лауры
успешно. Радиостанции всей страны часто крутили
песни из ее альбома. И вдобавок к этому 26 января
она была выбрана представлять Финляндию на
конкурсе Евровидение 2002. Ее песню
"Пристрастилась к тебе" написал Маки
Колехмайнен, а текст Янина Фростелл вместе с
Трэйси Липп. Аранжировщик - Мика Металла.
Песня была явным фаворитом, как у членов жюри, так
и у телезрителей.
